About

As an artist hailing from the Klamath Tribes in southern Oregon, my creative journey has been deeply intertwined with my pursuit of a film degree at Portland State University. Gradually nearing the culmination of my academic endeavors, I've traversed a diverse array of studies, yet my passion has gravitated towards environmental justice and Indigenous philosophy.

Growing up immersed in Indigenous narratives and activism, I've ventured on a quest to unravel the intricate connections between these narratives and the environmental challenges confronting my community and beyond. Through the medium of film, I've endeavored to share Indigenous wisdom and perspectives, collaborating with individuals outside my community to catalyze change amidst the climate crisis.

My recent focus has been on a documentary project centered on the triumph of my tribe and neighboring tribes in advocating for the removal of dams along the Klamath River. What began as an exploration of the significance of water to Indigenous cultures evolved into a profound meditation on decolonization and environmental justice. As the narrative unfolded, I witnessed the polarizing effects of dam removal, prompting me to recognize the urgency of amplifying Indigenous voices through film. This ongoing project serves as a testament to the resilience of Indigenous communities and the imperative of documenting their stories. In the course of my studies and filmmaking endeavors, I've been enriched by the wisdom and insights shared by numerous individuals, shaping my evolving perspective.

Ultimately, my artistic aspirations lie in Indigenous filmmaking. Recognizing the glaring absence of Indigenous stories in mainstream media, I am driven by a deep sense of responsibility to bridge this gap and reaffirm the authenticity of Indigenous identity. Through collaboration with my tribe and Indigenous communities nationwide, I am committed to cultivating platforms for the dissemination of their narratives, whether through documentary or narrative forms. In every frame of my work, I seek to honor the ancestral wisdom and resilience of Indigenous peoples, forging connections that transcend cultural divides and foster understanding in the global community.
